I was actually looking forward to the new season...it looked like they were going to finally integrate the whole cast back into the show...even the promo pictures for some of the episodes were like blasts from the past - you know, back when it was good. 

And now...it's come to an end. 

I can't believe this. 

I am so angry I can't think straight. If this was her decision, I would be able to accept it, but given that it seems to be a 'creative decision' makes it that much worse...


I quit House.  The unwatched season 6 premiere has already been deleted.

I also thought House and Cameron trying to game each other was very well done -- and a vast improvement over those times where they bring in an outside authority figure like Vogler to try to rein in House -- and the only disappointment was that it ended, and for a relatively lame reason. Cuddy has never controlled House this well. Never. It's a hallmark of both the show and her character that she either caves in to House, or he ignores her and she doesn't reprimand him for it. I quite liked this dynamic, and don't think Cameron was nearly the pile of mush she seemed to think she was.

...Feels like I've been MIA for a long time...though I've actually never really left.  I've just been lurking quietly.  :)  I've been playing World of Warcraft to pass the time really.

I haven't really kept up with House spoiler discussions mostly because, while I still like having some idea of what's going to happen on the show so I can be forwarned of events (yay for spoilers when it came to that Huddy kiss...I still haven't seen it :)), I've just been brought down by reading the discussions...  It seems that everytime someone is attempting to be positive about something, someone has to go around and just bring them down, which just makes me feel like, well, honestly, like throwing something through the computer.  If someone wants to be positive, why must you bring them down?  I know we House fans, particularly those who like Cameron and House, have been disappointed this season and have felt incredibly betrayed by the producers, but still, a little optimism can go a long way.  If they crash and burn later, well, then they'll just pick themselves up and go again. 

I fall under the more cautiously optimistic side...rather than just plain giddiness or pure, unadulterated pessimism.  I know things might not work out the way we want them, but I want to hope things might become better.

On another note, Congrats to the House cast and Hugh Laurie for winning the People's Choice Award last night, though, honestly, I had no idea they were even nominated...I guess I just missed the entire voting period.  Still, I hope the producers realize that even though they won, they still have a large segment of fans that are feeling betrayed.  But it was nice to see the entire cast up on stage for once :D  They all looked really, really happy the be there. :D

Though, honestly, I think the voting for the People's Choice award is a little odd...because the highest rated show of the three nominated shows is CSI, followed by Gray's Anatomy...House is a distant third in ratings among these three.  Hmm...maybe it's just a sign of which show has the most devoted fans...and not necessarily rating numbers...  *shrug*


Anyway...changing topics...  This is the semester of my senior thesis...yay...  I'm writing on Leonardo Da Vinci and his female portraits, including his Mona Lisa. :) Hopefully, it'll work out.

I have a screenplay/novel-ish idea...writing about Leonardo Da Vinci as well...just to see if I can make one more factual than myth based. :)

I'm still hopelessly addicted to World of Warcraft...

And finally, coming back to House, I have a fanfic idea.  House/Cam of course... It's kind of dark and I don't want it to be incredibly long, maybe ten or so parts...I want to start writing it before posting it...  I have no idea where the plot came from but oh well.  I know I'm still writing my Whatever It Takes House/Cam fic, but my muse seems to have abandoned me on that one...for some reason.  I want to try and get back into writing fanfic so I'll try and crank this one idea out first before going back to that one...

Here's my first House vid in...over a year. I've been trying to get my muse back and then I heard this song by Vanessa Paradis (better known to Americans as Johnny Depp's other half and the mother of his children), watched the vid and thought I'd give it a whirl...just to try and get back into the flow of vidding.

I won't lie, this has been has been heavily influenced by Vanessa's original music video because I love what Depp did with it (he directed it)...and I needed somewhere to jumpstart my muse :^)

And, yeah, it's in French (which I have absolutely no knowledge of) but I do have an approximate English translation under the cut with the French lyrics alongside.... :^) (I've been fighting LJ about this forever...hopefully it works this time)

If I were a producer on House, I would be concerned.  Really concerned.  The ratings for the season 5 premiere declined almost 30% over last season's premiere.  And last night, the overnights showed even more decline.




House, which usually ranks as the highest scripted show on Tuesdays, actually came in behind NCIS, which airs at the same time.  I don't ever recall that happening previously.

There could be a couple of reasons why this happened:

1. The earlier timeslot could be an issue for a lot of people.  Kids are still awake, some still at work, etc. In the central time zone, it airs at 7...that's really early.
2. The producers pissed off enough people that they have just stopped watching due to the stunts the writers are doing regarding the new team vs. the old team's continued lack of screentime.

Me, personally, I'm going with option 2.  House has aired during the earlier timeslot before (I think it was...either the beginning of season 3 or 4...can't remember) and they didn't post ratings this low. 

I think it goes hand in hand with a survey that was done recently by Q Survey (a marketing research group) in which they examined the 'emotional attachment' viewers had on their favorite TV shows.  House came in 3rd, behind Survivor: Micronesia and Heroes.  Which makes sense to me, especially in light of the thriving online communities. We're pretty attached to this show and characters. 

If ratings continue to slip even further, I hope the producers take note and fix what they broke.  Unless they want to end up getting cancelled at the end of their 5th year.  I don't know if FOX would go that far; they'd probably demand the writers do something about it in a way that similar to their demanding that they add an 'arch-nemesis' for House in the first season. 

The producers need to get their heads out of their asses and look at what they've done to their show.  The 'numbers' haven't helped anything and are probably the main reason for the rating decline.  The Huddy-fest on the horizon doesn't seem to be helping at all (thankfully), and neither has this ridiculous Chameron.  Their continued promises that we'll see more of Cameron and Chase this season have fallen flat so far...And their continuous lying to their fans didn't help things either.

I hope they realize that they need to fix the thing that they broke....that wasn't even broken in the first place....

That was...um, longer than I anticipated.  Sorry about that.  Needed to get this off my chest.

He just won the Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for his work on House's Head...

I say good for him...I thought that was wonderfully beautifully directed episode. That was the best episode of season 4 and I think it was hugely in part of Greg Yaitanes.

Here's hoping Hugh wins...I'm fairly certain he submitted House's Head as his episode as well and I think that was good strong choice for him. Too bad he got sick and couldn't be there. :(


The show itself...I don't think it stands chance...and really shouldn't win... but if they do...I will be happy for them. But they submitted "Frozen" as their episode...which while I liked it...it just doesn't scream Emmy worthy.


Also...I'm not watching these live...I'm going from the results at Yahoo! I didn't want to listen to anyone get on their soapboxes...

ETA:  Well, phooey...Hugh didn't win.   I seriously thought it would be 'third time's a charm' for him.  At least he didn't have to waste his time by showing up this year.    Some day they will have to give it to him.  It's getting ridiculous. The Emmy is to him like the Oscar is to Johnny Depp apparently.

And like I expected... the show didn't win.  Good.

 I suddenly remembered why I never fully participated in a fandom before... the negativity from so many people can just bring you down....of course, most online fandoms are rather negative and this one is no different, but seriously, it's starting to bug me this time... and all the spoilers, well, actually it's mostly the comments regarding the spoilers that bug me...


So.... I'm going to stop reading spoilers....


Yeah, right.... we'll see how long that lasts :)      Or rather, I may stop reading comments on the spoilers....





On a side note... I'm kinda sad about my brothers puppy... He'd been sick and I had to go over to his house this morning because my neice and nephews called because he had a seizure and then just collapsed.  He was cold when I got there..... So, um....yeah, that was upsetting.... they'd only had him a week and a half and he was only 2 months old....

So I decided to make a House/Cameron mood theme.  :)  Nothing too fancy, but it was fun. :)  Consists of mostly seasons 2, 3, & 4.

First, off I've noticed that I enjoy the episodes more if I don't watch with any shippy expectations...seriously... I think I'll just have to reserve that for fanfic...

I have to say that I was surprisingly amazed by the first part of the season finale...and it's been a while since that's happened...

Those finale 10 minutes were absolutely awesome...

I hate the House fandom... 

Okay... that came out really harsh... Let me explain.

I don't hate the entire fandom.  I hate the negativity in the online fandom....Most people are really nice and fun to have a chat with about the show.  But still....

I have never seen a fandom that can be so.... callous towards one another (and actors on the show) than this one.  Seriously,  I though the Buffy fandom could get bad.  I've lurked on so many House boards and only post occassionally in the general forums.  I usually avoid doing so because usually when I do post, someone takes it out of context and... actually, it seems as though they are trying to start a fight.  Which is why I usually stick around the House/Cameron forums....

Which brings me to the 'ship wars... OMG the 'ship wars!  I thought it was horrible with Spuffy (Spike/Buffy) vs Bangle (Buffy/Angel).

It is probably the 'ship wars that I hate the most about the fandom.  It gets so... violent isn't the word I'm looking for... but it might have to do for now.  

In one corner you've got the House/Cameron shippers, in the other corner are the House/Cuddy shippers.  And they must battle it out to prove that they are the best. (I happen to belong to the House/Cam corner but that's neither here nor there.)  It's so bad that I know a lot of House/Cam shippers that avoid any other forum other than the H/Cam specific ones because of the treatment they get from the general forums.  That's horrible, IMO.  One person makes a comment about something they don't like about a character and then they get bashed for it because they just happen to like a ship that the basher doesn't.  And then a fight breaks out...

How can a fandom have a discussion of an episode or whatever when there is an entire voice missing?  

Just because someone likes a different ship from the others doesn't mean their opinion is of lesser value or wrong.  

Then there's those who bash the actors... although they may claim that they are not.  Yes, you are.  And the fans of those actors are not happy... and another fight breaks out... A post about a photo op of one actor will undoubtedly contain posts from various people saying that they suck, they need to eat, her hair is awful, which eventually somehow turns into comparing the actor to their character.  Which is something I don't understand... But a fan of the actor in question will try to defend them but then they become a recipient of harsh comments....  It's a never ending cycle.  Comments about outfits worn are one thing, but commenting about a persons abilities in their job is a completely different thing.  They auditioned, the producers loved them, they got the job.  Get over it. 

If you don't have something nice to say about the photos and the actor in question... why don't you just not say anything...?

I once had a little chat (if you wanna call it that) about this very issue... and the other poster somehow tried to turn it into a 'ship war... until I put an end to that.  I made a little comment about how I wish that fans of JM and LE could get along without resorting to insults.  One user commented and somehow managed to interpret my comment into telling people how to think and who to like... Um no I didn't say anything like that.  Somehow, and I'm really not sure how this happened, but the poster made a comment about how they like JM just fine, even if the thought of House/Cameron wants to make you gouge your eyes out.  Then they went on about how House/Cuddy was the bestest best of all the best. Their statement about House/Cam was a little harsh comment to be sure... and I could have said something about that, but I responded with "That's a matter of opinion and not mine."  I also went on to actually say some nice things about House/Cuddy (something they couldn't do about my ship). I said that I liked their interactions with one another most of the time...

Well, that stopped all the ship war talk right there probably because they didn't get a rile out of me.... although they still continued to say that I was dictating how  people should think...and putting words in my mouth that I never said.  Eventually, it got to the point where I just said that I wasn't going to say anything else because it's obvious that anything I say in the general forums will be misconstrued and misinterpreted.  And that ended that...

You know... I blame the producers and the writers for helping to create the animosity between fans....  Seriously.

They spend so much time bouncing back and forth between various ships and whatnot because it's 'fun' that I guess the feeling that they have to prove that their ship is the primary ship just developed.  We had this scene, but, hey wait, they had that scene... it's ridiculous...


Well... I said that I hate the House fandom... but really it's just the few people that think they are the majority just because they are the most vocal that I hate.  And I hate to break it to ya, but the online fandom in general is not representational of the millions that watch the show.  The online fandom consists of just a small percentage of those that watch the show.

Most people in the fandom are wonderful and are capable of having discussions without trying to bring down one group of fans.  But sometimes, that's not enough...  It's the the others that sometimes give this fandom a bad name....

Which is why I stick to my House/Cameron corner... I'll continue to venture out occassionally, but it's nice to know that I have a place to go. :^)
